LEXINGTON, Ky. - Junior Antwon Hicks and sophomore Rachel Ellison each advanced to the finals of their respective events on Saturday at the 2004 SEC Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Hicks, the nations' leader in the 60-meter hurdles, advanced to Sunday's final by clocking in at 7.87 in his preliminary heat. His time was the fifth fastest in the preliminary round.

Ellison turned in a 4:50.98 time in the mile run to advance to Sunday's final. The time, a new personal best for Ellison, was the ninth fastest time in the preliminary run.

"Antwon did what he needed to advance to the finals," said Ole Miss head coach Joe Walker. "He should have a lot left for tomorrow's race. He ran very smart today.

"Rachel turned in a great performance. She has not run the mile until this year and she is improving each week. I am very proud of her for what she has accomplished in such a short amount of time."

Hicks will compete in the 60-meter hurdle final at 12:40 p.m. (CST), while Ellison will run the mile final at 1:05 p.m. (CST), on Sunday. In addition to Hicks and Ellison, Ole Miss will have athletes competing in several field events along with the relay races on the final day of competition at the 2004 SEC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
