TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Ole Miss men's golf team is in second place after day one of the 13-team Conrad Rehling Alabama Invitational. The Rebels, who fired a 292 Friday at the Ol' Colony Golf Course, are just four strokes over par and six strokes behind first-place Jacksonville State (286, -2).
The host Crimson Tide is in third place after day one (293, +5), while Toledo holds down fourth (297, +9) and Kentucky occupies fifth (299, +11). Ole Miss leads a group of four Southeastern Conference teams as rival Mississippi State is in a four-way tie for seventh (304).
Senior Pope Spruiell is tied for fourth after recording a 70 (-2) in round one. Junior Adam Swope is tied for 14th after posting a 73 (+1), while true freshman Kyle Ellis is in a seven-way knot for 19th overall (74, +2) and redshirt freshman Callum Macaulay is in a four-way tie for 26th place (75, +3).
The 54-hole affair continues with 18 holes Saturday and 18 more Sunday.
