Lady Rebels Head To Iowa For NCAA Tournament

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss women's basketball team will travel to Ames, Iowa for a first round NCAA Tournament game against Villanova. Game time is set for 6 p.m. (CST) on Sunday, March 21, at Hilton Coliseum on the campus of Iowa State University. The game will be televised live on ESPN2.
Ole Miss earned a No. 10 seed in the West Region with a 17-13 overall record, including a 7-7 mark in Southeastern Conference play. Villanova was awarded a No. 7 seed after posting a 22-6 overall mark and a 12-4 record in Big East action.
"Villanova is a team that presents a lot of match-up problems for us," said Ole Miss head coach Carol Ross. "We will certainly have our hands full. We have been working the last few days on figuring out how we can dance a little longer and get through a very tough Villanova team."
Ole Miss, playing in its first NCAA Tournament since 1996, is led by freshman guard Armintie Price with 15.3 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. Price, the SEC Freshman of the Year, has tallied 14 double-doubles on the season. Senior guard Genice Terry scores 12.3 points per game and junior center Amber Watts adds 9.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per contest for Ole Miss.
Villanova is led by sophomore forward Liad Suez with 13.4 points per game. Senior guard Courtney Mix leads the Wildcats in rebounding (7.0), assists (4.4) and steals (1.6). Villanova leads the nation in fewest turnovers per game with 9.2 per contest.
The winner of the Ole Miss-Villanova contest will face the winner of No.2-seed Purdue versus No. 15-seed St. Francis (Pa.) on Tuesday, March 23, at Hilton Coliseum. Game time is yet to be determined.
The Lady Rebels will depart for Iowa on Friday, March 19. Ole Miss will depart from Oxford/University Airport at 9 a.m. Fans are asked to arrive at the airport 8:15 a.m., to send them off.
