Men's Golf Finishes Fifth In 12-Team Seminole Intercollegiate

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Ole Miss men's golf fired a two-day total of 905 to finish fifth in the 12-team Seminole Intercollegiate. The Rebels turned in rounds of 295 and 310 on Monday before recording a third-round score of 300 on Tuesday. The 54-hole event was played at the Golden Eagle Country Club and hosted by Florida State.

Georgia State won the annual affair with a team score of 884 (20-over par). Central Florida placed second (889, +25), while Vanderbilt finished third (892, +28) and UAB fourth (897, +33). The host Seminoles wound up sixth (906, +42), while East Tennessee slipped to seventh (907, +43), the College of Charleston finished eighth (915, +51), Louisville ninth (917, +53), North Florida 10th (928, +64), Maryland 11th (933, +69) and USC-Aiken 12th (936, +72).

After shooting back-to-back rounds of 74, freshman Kyle Ellis fired a 73 on Tuesday to climb to 10th place overall (221, +5). Junior David Shields was close behind with a 73-77-73--223 (+7), which was good for 12th place. After shooting par in round one, senior Pope Spruiell slipped to 21st overall with a 72-77-78--227 (+11).

The Rebels also had a pair of redshirt freshmen competing at the invitational. Callum Macauley finished 38th overall with scores of 76-82-76--234 (+18), while Chris Rogers took 48th place with rounds of 78-83-78--239 (+23).

Ole Miss returns to action Monday-Tuesday, with the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate in Las Cruces, N.M. The two-day affair will include 36 holes on Monday and 18 more on Tuesday. Monday's slate will begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
