OXFORD, Miss. - The 58th-ranked Ole Miss women's tennis team downed 70th-ranked Arkansas, 6-1, Sunday afternoon at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center. With the win, the Lady Rebels improve to 10-8 overall and 2-6 in the SEC, while Arkansas drops to 8-9 and 0-8 in conference play.

Ole Miss improved its record in the series to 16-5, and 14-2 since 1990. The Lady Rebels have now won three straight against Arkansas.

"It feels to good to be on the winning side again after a couple of close losses," head coach Mark Beyers said. "We came out with a lot of energy and played well. We beat them decisively and never game them a chance to get in the match. This gives us a lot of confidence for next weekend as we try to beat South Carolina."

The Lady Rebels got on the board first by claiming the doubles point with wins at the Nos. 3 and 1 spots. Karem Harboe and Florencia Basile increased their record to 13-3 at No. 3 doubles with an 8-3 win, and Chloe Carlotti and Virginia Tomatis improved to 12-4 at the top spot with their 8-0 win.

In singles, the Lady Rebels jumped on the Lady Razorbacks early and never let up. Freshman Emily Ladyman needed only a little more than 30 minutes to take care of UA's Christian Kincannon, 6-0, 6-0 on court six.

With the Lady Rebels up 2-0, Basile finished off Lady'Back, Iliana Pacheco, 6-4, 6-0 at No. 4 singles to make it 3-0. Carlotti, ranked No. 53 in the nation, cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 win over Arkansas' Megan Ferreira at the top spot to clinch the match. Carlotti, who went 4-0 this weekend in singles and doubles, is now 11-6 at the No. 1 position.

Tomatis beat Whitney Morton at No. 5 singles, 6-4, 6-4 and then Sabrina Peppl registered a 6-3, 6-2 win over Melissa Cornett at No. 3 singles to finish out the Lady Rebel scoring.

Arkansas got its only point of the day on court two, where Anna Dybicz defeated Lady Rebel Karem Harboe, 6-3, 1-6, 1-0(9).

The Lady Rebels will conclude a four-match homestand with South Carolina Friday at 4 p.m., and Florida Sunday at 1 p.m.
