BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Ole Miss freshman golfer Adrienne White (Red Deer, Alberta/Hunting Hills H.S.) has been recognized by the Southeastern Conference as a Second-Team All-SEC selection, the league office announced Friday afternoon.
White joins an elite group as just the fifth individual in the program's 18-year history to be honored by the league office. She also earns the distinction of being the first Ole Miss freshman named to the conference's second team. Megan Breen (1996) and Robyn Rinaldo (1997) earned honorable mention accolades during their freshman seasons.
"It's hard to believe that Adrienne is just a freshman because she has performed like a seasoned veteran all year long," third-year head coach Meghan Bolger said. "She has proven that she's capable of competing at the highest level (of amateur golf) and has quickly become one of the top golfers in our league. Adrienne has been vital to our team success and we hope that will continue over the next three seasons. We are really looking forward to seeing her grow -- as a person and a golfer -- during the next three years."
White carded a 76-70-70--216 (E) at the 2004 SEC Championships to place third individually. The three-round total was a season and career best, while her low round of the season (69) came Sept. 15 at the Cougar Classic. White, who carries the team's best stroke average (75.40), has turned in six rounds at even-or-under par. She has also recorded four Top-Five finishes, seven Top-10 finishes and eight Top-20 efforts.
