OXFORD, Miss. - As fall classes started on the Ole Miss campus, the Rebel football team began studying for the Memphis Tigers on Monday in preparation for both teams' season-opener on Sept. 4. With two-a-days ending over the weekend, Ole Miss began a two-hour late afternoon practice, on the practice fields outside Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, which was cut a few minutes short by lightning moving into the area. The Rebels, practicing in full pads, moved their focus to more of a game-week situation. Ole Miss head coach David Cutcliffe was pleased with his squad's effort on the first day of classes. "This was our first practice to cover stuff on Memphis," said Cutcliffe. "We got some good looks and we will continue to do so the rest of the week. I was pleased with what we got out of the kids after they had a busy day with classes starting." The Rebels' 2004 season opener versus the Memphis Tigers is not scheduled for television broadcast. Kick-off is slated for 6 p.m. CST from Vaught-Hemingway Stadium/Hollingsworth Field.
