OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss women's volleyball team got a new perspective on life and gave back to the community recently when the squad traveled to Hermitage Gardens to compete in games of seated volleyball with local residents.

The 15-player team took to the retirement community expecting a simple afternoon of fun, but came back with much more in a new outlook on life.

"This experience really touched the team and put life in a new perspective for many of them," said Ole Miss head coach Joe Getzin. "This was a good opportunity to give a little bit back to the community and see life from others who have already done so much in their own lives."

The Lady Rebels go out and work with the community through activities sponsored by the CHAMPS/Lifeskills program on campus. CHAMPS/Lifeskills promotes a commitment to Academic Excellence, Athletic Excellence, Career Development, Personal Development and Service.

The Lady Rebels will be out and about in the community throughout the year as they participate in other CHAMPS/Lifeskills projects like Reading With The Rebels.
