Lady Rebel Netters Earn Preseason National Rankings

OXFORD, Miss. - Members of the Ole Miss women's tennis team earned spots in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's preseason national rankings released Friday by the ITA. The preseason national rankings are for singles and doubles only, with the first team ranking to be released in January.
Senior All-American Chloe Carlotti is ranked No. 43 in singles. The two-time All-American is coming off her first campaign with the Lady Rebels after transferring from Fresno State. She earned All-SEC honors in 2004 and participated in the NCAA Championships for the third consecutive year.
Sophomore newcomer Ilona Somers earned a ranking of No. 81 in singles. The Netherlands native, transfered from Tulsa University, where she posted a 22-6 overall record, 19-4 in dual matches. She was one of the top rookies in the Central Region last year and finished the season ranked No. 113 in the nation.
In doubles, Carlotti and junior Virginia Tomatis begin the year ranked No. 15. The pair went 8-3 in the SEC last year and earned All-SEC honors. They participated in the NCAA Doubles Championships in 2004.
Somers and redshirt freshman Mimi Renaudin earned a ranking of No. 51. Prior to Tulsa, Somers was ranked No. 12 in doubles in the world junior ITF rankings.
The Lady Rebels began the season this weekend at the Tunica National Invitational in Tunica, Miss.
