OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss senior offensive lineman James Campbell of Olive Branch, Miss., suffered a neck injury during Wednesday afternoon's football practice and was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi as a precautionary measure.
"James never lost consciousness and was moving, but he did have some weakness on his left side," head coach David Cutcliffe said. "We took him to the hospital as a precaution. The X-Rays and CT scan came back negative. He will stay in the hospital Wednesday night -- again, for precautionary measures -- and we hope he will be dismissed sometime Thursday."
Ole Miss, which opens Southeastern Conference play this Saturday night at Alabama on ESPN2, had a spirited workout Wednesday afternoon.
"I thought it was a good practice," Cutcliffe said. "We had better focus and I know they are anxious play this week."
