Ole Miss Finishes Fourth At Withrow Invitational

MURRAY, Ky. - The Ole Miss rifle team scored a record score of 2290 in smallbore on the way to a fourth-place finish at the Withrow Invitational over the weekend at Murray State University. The Rebels also scored a score of 2311 in air rifle at the event.
The Rebels shot a combined 2290-2311--4601 for the fourth-place finish.
Jennifer Lorenzen paced Ole Miss with a team-high of 579 in smallbore and 575 in air rifle, while Samantha Leach finished hot on her heels with a score of 578 in smallbore and a team-high of 584 in air rifle, both career-highs. Her score of 584 in air rifle was good enough for a seventh-place finish overall.
"We had a great day at Murray State, posting our best smallbore score of the year," said Ole Miss head coach Valerie Booth. "We had some great individual efforts this weekend, but our team will have to improve as a whole if we want to qualify for the NCAA postseason."
Shannon Wilson posted scores of 568 in smallbore and 575 in air rifle, while Natasha Phillips fired a 565 in smallbore and Casey Phillips scored a 577 in air rifle to round out the scoring for Ole Miss.
Mara Polonsky and Jessica McClain competed as individuals in the weekend event. Polonsky fired a 569 in air rifle and a 564 in smallbore. McClain scored a 538 in air rifle.
Ole Miss will return to action at the NCAA Sectionals on February 13, 2005 at Murray State University.
