OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss men's and women's basketball teams open practice this Friday and want the Rebel fans to be a part of it. On the eve of the Ole Miss-Alabama football game, the basketball squads will host "Rebel Roundup" Friday at 9 p.m. at C.M. Tad Smith Coliseum.
The event will begin with exciting introductions of Carol Ross' 2005-06 Lady Rebels, before the team takes the court. Fans will then be introduced to Rod Barnes' new Ole Miss squad and see the Rebels in action.
Admission is free, and t-shirts and other door prizes will be given away. The Rebel Chopper will be on display, and fans will have a chance to purchase raffle tickets to win the motorcycle. The Chopper will be given away at halftime of the Dec. 17 men's game against Memphis.
The Ole Miss women's squad plays its first exhibition game Nov. 10 against Athlete in Action, while the men's team hosts its first exhibition Nov. 11 versus Spring Hill College. Regular season openers for both squads are also in November. The men's season opens at the Jim Thorpe Classic Nov. 18-20 in Albuquerque, N.M., and the women's team tips off its campaign against Rice Nov. 18 in Tad Smith Coliseum.
