Lady Rebels Set To Host #7/7 Rutgers On Wednesday

The Lady Rebels (6-1) will host #7/7 Rutgers (8-0) on Wednesday, Dec. 14, in Tad Smith Coliseum. The game will tip-off at 7 p.m. Ole Miss encourages fans to attending the game to wear pink as part of a "Tickled Pink in the Tad Pad" promotion helping to raise money for breast cancer research.

Ole Miss is led on the season by junior guard Armintie Price with 18.1 points and 11.3 rebounds per game. Price, a preseason All-SEC first team selection, recently eclipsed the 1,000-point and 600-rebound marks. She currently sits in 20th place on the Ole Miss all-time scoring chart with 1,074 points.

Senior guard Ashley Johnson is averaging 12.3 points per game and has made 14-of-40 shots from beyond the arc. Johnson led Ole Miss in wins over Clemson with 21 points and Tennessee State with 20 points.

Junior Ashley Awkward and sophomore Tasi Worsham have been handling the point guard duties for Ole Miss. Awkward is averaging 9.7 points per outing, while Worsham is adding 5.1 per game. The duo has dished a combined 38 assists in Ole Miss' first seven games and has also collected 23 steals.

Sophomore forward Jada Mincy had a break-out game in Ole Miss' win over Tennessee State. The Memphis, Tenn., native recorded her first career double-double with a personal best 13 points to go along with 10 rebounds, eight of which were on the offensive end. Mincy was Ole Miss' leading rebounder for the second-straight outing with 10 boards versus UAB.

Under the direction of third-year head coach Carol Ross, the Lady Rebels are 42-26. Ross, who played at Ole Miss from 1979-82, earned SEC Co-Coach of the Year honors in 2004 after guiding Ole Miss back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in eight seasons. Ross' Lady Rebels returned to the NCAA Tournament in 2004-05, falling to George Washington in the first round of play.

#7/7 Rutgers enters Wednesday's contest with a perfect 8-0 mark on the season. They are 1-0 in Big EAST action with a win over Providence.

The Scarlet Knights are led by senior Player of the Year candidate Cappie Pondexter. The 5-9 guard is leading the team with 21.9 points per game. She also dishes 4.1 assists.

Joining Pondexter in double figures is senior forward Michelle Campbell with 10.1 points per game. Sophomore guard Essence Carson records 8.6 points and 4.8 rebounds per game, while freshman forward Kia Vaughn leads the team on the boards with 6.3 per contest.

Rutgers head coach C. Vivian Stringers is 211-111 in her 11th season with the Scarlet Knights. Her overall coaching mark is 731-246 in 34 seasons.
