Lady Rebels Host UAB Saturday

The Lady Rebels (5-1) will host UAB (1-3) on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 2 p.m. Ole Miss will match-up with the Blazers before taking a 10-day break from competition to complete first semester final exams.

Ole Miss is led on the season by junior guard Armintie Price with 18.5 points and 12.0 rebounds per game. Price, a preseason All-SEC first team selection, recently eclipsed the 1,000-point and 600-rebound marks. She currently sits in 20th place on the Ole Miss all-time scoring chart with 1,058 points.

Senior guard Ashley Johnson is averaging 12.3 points per game and has made 13-of-33 shots from beyond the arc. Johnson led Ole Miss in wins over Clemson with 21 points and Tennessee State with 20 points.

Junior Ashley Awkward and sophomore Tasi Worsham have been handling the point guard duties for Ole Miss. Awkward is averaging 9.3 points per outing, while Worsham is adding 5.8 per game. The duo has dished a combined 32 assists in Ole Miss' first six games and has also collected 20 steals.

Sophomore forward Jada Mincy had a break-out game in Ole Miss' win over Tennessee State. The Memphis, Tenn., native recorded her first career double-double with a personal best 13 points to go along with 10 rebounds, eight of which were on the offensive end.

Sophomore forward Carla Bartee is adding 8.3 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. The Waynesboro, Miss., native, has scored 50 points in just 89 minutes of play.

Under the direction of third-year head coach Carol Ross, the Lady Rebels are 41-26. Ross, who played at Ole Miss from 1979-82, earned SEC Co-Coach of the Year honors in 2004 after guiding Ole Miss back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in eight seasons. Ross' Lady Rebels returned to the NCAA Tournament in 2004-05, falling to George Washington in the first round of play.

UAB enters Saturday's contest with a 1-3 record. The Blazers have dropped games to Georgia Tech (55-68), Louisiana-Monroe (68-70) and Chattanooga (58-84), while picking up a win over Jackson State (73-62).

The Blazers are led by junior guard Crystal McFadden with 13.3 points per game and junior forward-center Domaneice Moore's 12.3 rebounds per game. Junior guard Carmen Guzman adds 11.8 points per game, while Moore drops in 8.7 for the Blazers. Guzman has also dished a team-high 10 assists for UAB.

UAB head coach Audra Smith is 8-24 in her second season leading the Blazer program. Her overall coaching mark is the same.
