OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss women's tennis team will host Murray State Wednesday at 2 p.m., at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center, weather permitting. If the weather doesn't cooperate, the match will be played indoors at the Gillom Sports Center.
The Lady Rebels (3-2) are coming off a tough 4-3 loss at 48th-ranked South Alabama last Saturday. The two teams split the singles matches, but South Alabama rallied to claim the doubles point, which proved to be the deciding factor in the match. Senior All-American Chloe Carlotti won her fifth match in a row and improved to 12-4 overall and 5-0 at No. 1 singles.
"Saturday was a tough loss for us," head coach Mark Beyers said. "We have to bounce back and get ready to play a solid Murray State team, Wednesday. We are hoping to play outside, if the weather cooperates."
This will be the first match of the season for Murray State. The Racers were scheduled to play Memphis last week, but it was postponed. They posted a 19-6 overall record last year, 9-0 in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Racers are led by senior Jaclyn Leeper who went 16-6 overall last year, 11-6 at No. 2 singles.
