Ole Miss Men and Women Continue Strong Indoor Season

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Ole Miss men and women continue their indoor season competing in the Meyo Invitational on Friday and Saturday hosted by the University of Notre Dame.

Ole Miss was in great company competing against Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan State, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Missouri, Arkansas, Butler, Marquette, the Clemson and Alabama men, and the Vanderbilt women.

The Men's team had another great week with senior Antwon Hicks winning the 60-meter hurdles. Also taking home a first place finish and provisionally qualifying for nationals was senior Shantel Glass in the long jump, leaping 24-11.25 with teammate Edward McCall finishing in third, his best finish this season, jumping 24-7.24. The men also had two second place finishes, senior Franz Bernard in the 300 meters with a time of 34.57 and senior Brandon Atkinson in the triple jump with a jump of 52-5.25 which is also a provisional qualifying mark.

"We continue to have a great indoor season," said Ole Miss Head coach Joe Walker. "Our desire keeps getting stronger each week and we are getting better each week."

For the women's team, junior Marquita Aldridge, continued her winning streak in the long jump, with a jump of 19-11.75 with teammate LaToya McBride finishing in fourth place with a jump of 19-4.75. Other top finishers were freshman Kenyata Coleman in the 300 meters in a time of 39.11 and fellow freshman Kirby Patterson in the 500 meters with a time of 1:14.42. In the weight throw, junior Kristi Stillwell finished in second place with a toss of 54-10.25. Senior Brandie Plyer came home with a third place finish in the pole vault clearing 11-11.75. Another great finish for the women's team was the 4x400 meter relay team finishing in second place in a time of 3:42.37.

The Ole Miss men and women will continue the indoor season in Ames, Iowa Feb. 11-12 to compete in the Iowa State Invitational.
