Price Earns Second Team Honors From Associated Press

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Ole Miss sophomore guard Armintie Price was named to the Southeastern Conference Women's Basketball Second Team by the Associated Press on Monday evening. Price, a Blue Mountain, Miss, native, earned second team honors from the AP for the second year in a row. It was also announced on Monday afternoon that Price earned 2005 SEC All-Tournament team honors after averaging 20 points and 10.5 rebounds and 6.5 steals per game last week.

Price, who was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Year and earned First Team honors in a poll of the league coaches, was the first guard to lead the conference in rebounding and the first player to lead the SEC in rebounding and steals in the same season.

LSU junior Seimone Augustus was a unanimous First team selection, along with Georgia freshman Tasha Humphrey. Augustus took home Player of the Year honors, while Humphrey was named Newcomer of the Year by the AP. LSU head coach Pokey Chatman was named 2005 SEC Coach of the Year after guiding the Lady Tigers to a perfect 14-0 conference mark.

Joining Augustus and Humphrey on the First team was Mississippi State senior Tan White, LSU senior Temeka Johnson, Vanderbilt senior Ashley Earley and Tennessee senior Shyra Ely.

Price was joined on the Second team by LSU freshman Sylvia Fowles, Auburn senior Natasha Brackett, Vanderbilt sophomores Carla Thomas and Dee Davis, Florida junior Bernice Mosby, Kentucky senior Sara Potts and Tennessee junior Shana Zolman.
