BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Ole Miss women's tennis players Chloe Carlotti and Virginia Tomatis earned All-SEC honors for the second year in a row, as the 2005 Women's Tennis SEC Awards were announced Wednesday at the tournament banquet in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Carlotti and Tomatis made the second team, tying for the best record at No.1 doubles with an 8-3 mark. Two of their three conference losses were to teams who also made the All-SEC team. At 16-4 overall, Carlotti and Tomatis are ranked No. 17 and should earn their second straight bid to the NCAA Doubles Championships. They have won five in a row, including back-to-back wins against top 15 teams.

"We are proud of Chloe and Virginia for earning All-SEC honors," head coach Mark Beyers said. "To go 8-3 in the SEC at No. 1 doubles for the second year in a row means you've defeated some of the top teams in the nation. They were instrumental in our playing much better doubles this season and in winning the SEC Western Division title."

Ole Miss has had a player named to the All-SEC team 14 out of the last 15 years. The SEC currently has four teams ranked among the nation's top 10 and six in the top 25.

The Lady Rebels, who are seeded No. 7 in the 2005 SEC Tournament, will take to the courts Thursday at 2 p.m. against the No. 10 seed, Alabama, in the first round of the tournament. The winner will take on the No. 2 seed, Vanderbilt, Friday.
