Lady Rebel Netters Move Up In National Rankings

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss women's tennis team moved up to No. 32 in this week's ITA National Rankings after their quarterfinal showing at last weekend's SEC Tournament.

The Lady Rebels, who won the SEC Western Division Championship this season, went 1-1 at the SEC Tournament, defeating Alabama 4-2 before falling to No. 6 Vanderbilt 4-2.

Stanford maintained the No. 1 spot in the rankings followed by Florida, Kentucky, Georgia Tech, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Southern California, Georgia, Miami and Texas. The SEC leads the nation with four teams in the top eight and six in the top 25.

In the individual rankings, senior Chloe Carlotti moved up to No. 34 in singles with a 15-7 record at the No. 1 position. Freshman Nika Koukhartchouk is ranked No. 90 in singleswith a 13-7 dual match record.

Carlotti and junior Virginia Tomatis checked in at No. 20 in the latest doubles rankings. The duo has posted a 17-5 record at No. 1 doubles and recently earned All-SEC honors for the second year in a row.

The Lady Rebels are expected to earn a bid to the 2005 NCAA Championships. The selections will be revealed Wednesday, May 4, beginning at 3:30 p.m. CT.
