Kloezeman Named To All-Freshman Team By League Coaches

OXFORD, Miss. - Chloe Kloezeman, a freshman shortstop for the Ole Miss softball team, was named to the All-Freshman team by the Southeastern Conference coaches on Wednesday, as announced by the league office.
Kloezeman started every game for the Rebels until the next to last series of the year, when she suffered an injury that caused her to miss four of the last six games for the Rebels. Despite the injury, Kloezeman led the league in assists for all-games, and finished in the top 5 in assists for conference games. She was conference assists leader before the injury.
"I believe she is the best freshman infielder in the conference. She has the best range and the strongest arm and is a solid hitter. She hit great pitching all year. Chloe really makes the hard plays look easy and routine. She is very deserving of the award and we are looking forward to the next three years of her career here as a Rebel."
A native of Milbrae, Calif., the freshman finished third on the team in batting average and hit 19 RBI, the second best on the team to go along with four home runs on the season. None were bigger than a two run shot in a 4-0 shutout of Mississippi State in Madison, Miss., to claim the season series over the Bulldogs. She also hit eight doubles and a triple on the season.
Kloezeman provided a steady hand at the shortstop position for the season, helping the Rebels turn a league leading 26 double plays on the year.
The freshman, who competed for the Greek Olympic team over the summer in Athens, made her presence felt with the Rebels as she helped Ole Miss to its first-ever winning season at 30-28. The Rebels also posted double-digit wins in conference play for the first time in the nine year history of the program.
