OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss head coach Ed Orgeron announced Friday that incoming freshman linebacker Wallace Bates is no longer a member of the Rebel football program.

"Wallace Bates has been dismissed from the Ole Miss football team due to a violation of team rules," Oregron said in a statement released by the Athletics Media Relations Office.

Bates, a 6-1, 210-pound linebacker from Woodland Hills, Calif., was a member of Orgeron's initial Ole Miss signing class last February. An All-Region selection by SuperPrep Magazine following his senior year at Taft High School in 2003, Bates was credited with 233 tackles over his last two years at Taft.
