OXFORD, Miss. - Lisa Conchos, a middle infielder from Phoenix, Ariz., has signed a national letter of intent to play softball for Ole Miss beginning with the 2006 season, head coach Missy Dickerson announced on Wednesday.

"We're excited about Lisa Conchos coming to join our program," Dickerson said. "She is a good middle infielder who should be able to step right in and fill the void there for us. She has played for a great summer team and is used to competing at a high level. Lisa is the type of player we are looking for as we try to build this program."

A graduate of Central High School, Conchos earned several honors in her senior season including Outstanding Defensive Player, Outstanding Senior Athlete, All-Region Honorable Mention and was nominated to the Senior All-Star Team. In 2003 she was named to the Second Team All-Region for pitching. In 2002, Conchos was named First Team All-Region as a utility player and was also a winner of the Most Outstanding Player Award.

In summer softball competition, Conchos has continually been a part of successful teams, playing for the American Softball Association Nationals teams since 1995 when she first played for the 10-and-under team.

In addition to competing in softball, Conchos has also been a leader on the badminton court in high school, helping lead her team to state championships twice. She also claimed the state doubles championship in 2004 and was named to the All-State team.

Conchos has been a success in the classroom as well, placing on the honor roll from 2001 to 2005 and earning an Academic Letter (2003-04).
