OXFORD, Miss. - Head coach Ed Orgeron's Ole Miss football team wrapped up another workout on Tuesday afternoon at the practice fields adjacent to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, as his club continues to build toward the fall season.

Improvement marked the Rebel practice.

"I thought both sides (of the ball) did a great job today," said the first-year head coach. "They were a little bit fresher, had a little more energy today."

After spending a good portion of practice in a team run session and some offense versus defense work, the combination of running backs and offensive lineman in the running game impressed Orgeron.

"Our run game is coming along. George DeLeone, our run game coordinator, is doing an excellent job," Orgeron said. On defense, a hot topic is the battle for the starting position at cornerback.

"It is a fierce competition," said Orgeron. "It's a battle back and forth. (Travis Johnson) had a pick in the two-minute drill today. We're going to play three cornerbacks, so it doesn't matter who starts, but he's a senior and wants that starting position."

Orgeron also announced freshman LaMark Armour's return to the defense and freshman Jacarious Lucas' switch from receiver to defensive back.

"We needed more speed on the defensive line," he said. "I thought after last Saturday we were a little sluggish on the defensive front. Lamark wasn't going to play tight end this year - he would have been redshirted - and I don't want to redshirt him. I want to play him."

This Saturday will be "Meet the Rebels" Day when fans will have a chance to get autographs and take pictures with Coach Orgeron and their favorite Rebel players. The event will take place from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in The Grove.
