OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss football team resumed preparations for the season opening game against Memphis with a single practice on Tuesday as the Rebels took to the field in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

The practice marked the first since the beginning of the fall semester on Monday. The squad took the day off on Monday as the players got acclimated to being back in school, finding classes and taking care of the academic side of being a student-athlete.

"We had two days off as the players went to school yesterday. We came back and on the first day back, things were a little shaky as we opened up," said Ole Miss head coach Ed Orgeron. "The offense came out and the offensive coaches did a good job of planning our run game The defense came back and got some sacks at the end I was pleased with that and the way we competed."

Monday saw the Rebels take to the field for position work and implementing the offensive and defensive game plans for the season.

Following the position work, the team split into offense and defense to run against the scout teams before coming back together to run against ones and twos.

The Rebels closed out with more work on the kicking game and special teams.

Ole Miss will continue to work toward the Sept. 5th opener against the University of Memphis with a single practice again on Wednesday. The season opener will be televised by ESPN and is slated for a 3 p.m. start time by the television network. It is part of ESPN's Labor Day lineup of football games.
