OXFORD, Miss. - Defense highlighted the Ole Miss football team's practice Wednesday, as weather forced the final thirty minutes inside to the Indoor Practice Facility.

"We were a lot more aggressive on defense today, first-year head coach Ed Orgeron said. "We rushed the passer well. The defensive line played pretty good."

Sophomore defensive lineman Jeremy Garrett impressed coaches in Wednesday's two-hour practice. Orgeron says he has had a great camp and will be part of the mix on the front line this season.

"He's coming along really well," Orgeron said. "We are playing him inside at nose and tackle. He's had an excellent camp, so we are going to find a way to get him on the field. He's part of our rotation."

Members of the Student Rebel Athletic Foundation (SRAF) were invited to sit in on practice and tour the IPF as part of the "Endzone Extravaganza." The students also enjoyed free hotdogs.

The event culminated with coach Orgeron and Rebel players speaking to the SRAF members about the upcoming season. Representatives of the "Pride of the South" marching band and the cheerleaders got the fans pumped and ready for the Sept. 5 season opener against Memphis.

The season opener will be televised by ESPN and is slated for a 3:30 p.m., start time by the television network. It is part of ESPN's Labor Day lineup of football games.
