OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss football team went hard in practice for an hour Friday before going into meetings and simulating a run-through of game day warm-ups in preparation of the upcoming season opener against Memphis.

Ole Miss head coach Ed Orgeron took his squad through a simulation of game day scenarios and game-time action for an hour on Friday afternoon before gathering the squad and moving indoors for meetings. The team then returned to the field in the stadium to run through what a Friday practice on game week would be like and simulating a game day practice with the Rebels.

Saturday will see more of the same as the Rebels will go through a scripted practice so Orgeron and staff can take the team through a game day and eliminate as many surprises for the first game.

"We're going against the scout team to simulate the game and get our substitutions right and ensure that we get the special situations set up," Orgeron said. "We'll practice just like it's a game. Everyone will make the calls and coaches will be split between the field and box calling plays. It's going to be a scripted practice and not a scrimmage. Every down will be scripted before hand."

In related news, Orgeron announced that running back Alan Abrams, a sophomore from Apopka, Fla., has been suspended from the team for disciplinary reasons.

The Rebels will open the season on Monday, Sept. 5, against the Memphis Tigers at 3 p.m. The game will be televised my ESPN.
