Rebels Split Day Two Action At Magnolia Invitational

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss volleyball team (5-3) broke even on Saturday winning the first match of the day against Lipscomb by a score of 3-1 before dropping the nightcap and final match of the tournament to North Carolina State 3-0.
Ole Miss went 2-2 for the tournament, also defeating Lamar 3-2 on the first day before falling to No. 17 Texas 3-1. Nikki Hill was named to the All-Tournament team for the Rebels.
Ole Miss closed out the tournament with a loss, despite playing a tightly contested match with the visiting Wolfpack 3-0 (25-30, 28-30, 28-30). The Rebels were led by Nikki Hill, who posted 20 kills and hit .237 for the match. She was the only Rebel to post double-digit kills for the home team. Kristen Carroll hit .600 for Ole Miss as she went 4-for-5 on the attack. Katie Kramer posted nine kills on the night.
North Carolina State was led by a pair of hitters who notched attack percentages above .400 for the match. Stefani Eddins and Adeola Kosoko paced the Wolfpack with 13 and seven kills each. Both were named to the All-Tournament team along with Hill.
Katie Kramer joined with Hill in the first match of the day to lead Ole Miss to the win over Lipsomb as Hill put up 18 kills and Kramer turned in 13 kills. Three Rebels came up with double-digit digs on the defensive side of things, led by Nicole Mahan's 14 digs. Allison Weber and Kramer added 11 and 10 digs, respectively.
Rounding out the All-Tournament team with the representatives from Ole Miss and North Carolina State were a trio of Longhorns and a Lady Bison. Lindsay Rutherford was named to the team from Lipscomb, while Lauren Paolini, Alyson Jennings and Michelle Moriarty were named from the 17th-ranked Longhorns. Texas' Paolini was named Tournament MVP.
Ole Miss returns to action with a single match against Arkansas State on Tuesday, September 13, at 7 p.m. The match will be played in the Gillom Sports Center on campus at the University of Mississippi.
