BATON ROUGE, La. - The Ole Miss Rebels (8-3-0) won their second SEC match in three outings, as they defeated the LSU Tigers (4-4-2) 1-0 in front of 1,689 rowdy Tiger fans at the LSU Soccer Complex Friday night.

Freshman Jennifer Hance once again was the Ole Miss goal scorer, putting it in the net with a header at the 51:54 mark in the second half. Sophomore Chrissy Strini got the assist off the corner kick cross.

"It's always tough to win on the road in the SEC," said Ole Miss head coach Steve Holeman. "So this was a big win for us to get back on track after the loss last Sunday."

The Rebels dominated possession throughout the match, and out-shot the Tigers 21-7. Ole Miss also held the edge in corner kicks, four to two.

Ole Miss goalkeepers Megan Vickery and Ann Shelton recorded the team's sixth shutout of the season. Vickery had one save in the first half, while Shelton blocked two shots in the second period.

The two sophomores have been a big key for the Rebels in SEC play. All three of Ole Miss' SEC matches have been 1-0 games, as Shelton led Ole Miss to the victory over Georgia last Friday with a complete-game shutout.

Hance scored her second SEC game-winning goal, as she also spurred the team to the win over Georgia with last-minute heroics in that match, which happened to be in front of a very large pack-the-park night in Athens as well.

Hance's goal was her fifth of the season, which leads the team. Strini recorded her team-leading fifth assist on the game-winning play against LSU.

"We really got back to playing Ole Miss soccer," Holeman said. "We possessed very well, found a rhythm and moved the ball well. We created a lot of opportunities for ourselves. We still need to work on finishing some of those opportunities, but we are happy with the win."

Ole Miss will wrap up its four-game road swing with a 1 p.m. CT match on Sunday against Arkansas.
