Lady Rebels Host Kentucky Sunday

The Lady Rebels (11-6, 1-3) will look to get back in the win column when they play host to Kentucky (13-4, 2-2) on Sunday afternoon in Tad Smith Coliseum. Game time is slated for 2 p.m.

Ole Miss and Kentucky are both entering Sunday's game coming off losses to SEC opponents. The Wildcats lost at home to Auburn, while Ole Miss fell in Oxford to Florida.

Ole Miss is led on the season by junior guard Armintie Price with 16.7 points and 11.0 rebounds per game. Price, a preseason Wooden and Naismith Award Candidate, is one of two players in the SEC averaging a double-double.

Junior guard Ashley Awkward has been getting the nod at the point guard position for Ole Miss. Awkward is leading the team in assists with 2.6 per game. She also drops in 9.5 points.

After opening the season with three-straight games in double figures, sophomore forward Danetra Forrest has collected three double-figure outings to open conference play. Forrest notched career highs in both points (19) and rebounds (14) against Florida. Forrest controlled 11 offensive rebounds versus the Gators.

Senior guard Ashley Johnson is Ole Miss' second leading scorer with 11.0 points per game. Johnson also leads the team in three-point baskets made with 28.

Sophomore forward Carla Bartee is Ole Miss' top player off the bench with 8.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per outing. Bartee led Ole Miss in scoring against Florida with 20 points. She made 4-of-6 from beyond the arc against the Gators.

Under the direction of third-year head coach Carol Ross, the Lady Rebels are 47-31. Ross, who played at Ole Miss from 1979-82, earned SEC Co-Coach of the Year honors in 2004 after guiding Ole Miss back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in eight seasons. Ross' Lady Rebels returned to the NCAA Tournament in 2004-05, falling to George Washington in the first round of play.

Kentucky enter's Sunday's contest having won four of their last five games. The Wildcats knocked off Bowling Green, South Carolina, Florida and Georgia Tech, before falling to Auburn in their last outing.

Sophomore Samantha Mahoney leads UK in scoring with 11.6 poinst per game. Junior Jenny Pfeiffer is second on the team with 11.2 points per game off the bench. Freshman Carly Omerod and sophomore Sarah Elliot also drop in double-figures with 10.5 and 10.3 points per game, respectively.

Senior Jennifer Humphrey leads the Wildcats on the boards with 9.1 per game. Sophomore Eleia Roddy pulls down 7.2 caroms per contest.

Kentucky head coach Mickie DeMoss is 42-37 in her third season with the Wildcats. DeMoss' overall coaching mark is 87-105 in her seventh season in the business.
