OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss fell short in a comeback effort on Sunday, falling to Kentucky 81-75, as the Lady Rebels dropped to 11-7 overall and 1-4 in Southeastern Conference play. Kentucky held off Ole Miss by cashing in on 12-of-12 from the foul line. The Wildcats improve to 14-4 on the season and move to 3-2 in league play.

"You never end a game with a loss and feel good about it," said Ole Miss head coach Carol Ross. "I am proud of those girls in our locker room though. They played hard the whole game and came out with great enthusiasm. They are showing tremendous character during this rough spell we are going through and that is encouraging. We are going to get it turned around."

Jenny Pfeiffer led four Wildcats in double figures with 19 points, including 9-of-9 free throws as she hit several to seal the win down the stretch. Nastassia Alcius scored 16 points, while 6-foot-6 center Sarah Elliott scored 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and Samantha Mahoney added 15 points.

Ole Miss had their chances for a second-half comeback, but struggled mightily from the charity stripe, connecting on 18-of-35 (51 percent) free throw attempts. Kentucky hit 26-of-29 from the line at a 90 percent clip.

Junior guard Armintie Price led four Lady Rebels in double figures with 22 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field. She added 10 rebounds to notch her SEC-leading 11th double-double of the season. The Blue Mountain, Miss., native also dished out four assists and nabbed four steals in the losing effort.

Sophomore guard Tasi Worsham scored a career-high 14 points and logged a career-high 32 minutes in the contest, while Danetra Forrest added 14 points and eight boards and Carla Bartee chipped in 12 points.

The first half was a series of runs as Kentucky began the game on an 11-3 run and held a 25-14 at the 8:25 mark. Ole Miss used an 11-0 run of its own to tie the game at 25, highlighted by a circus shot lay-up by Worsham.

After trailing 43-34 at halftime, the Lady Rebels made a 16-5 run to begin the second period, taking a 50-48 lead at the 13:42 mark with a Bartee three-pointer. From there, the teams traded five lead changes and two ties before Kentucky again made a run, extending a 57-56 lead to a 67-58 margin from the 8:32 to the 4-minute mark.

The Wildcats (14-4, 3-2 SEC) would not give up the lead again, and made all of their free throws down the stretch to quell another Lady Rebel comeback attempt.

For the game, Kentucky out-rebounded Ole Miss 48-34. The Wildcats also managed to outscore Ole Miss 50-9 off the bench. Ole Miss forced 22 Wildcat turnovers off of 12 steals and only turned the ball over eight times, a season low.

Ole Miss will hit the road next week, traveling to Mississippi State on Thursday and Vanderbilt on Sunday. Thursday's game will tip-off at 7 p.m., in Humphrey Coliseum.
