Lady Rebel Netters To Compete In Wilson/ ITA South Regional

OXFORD, Miss. Members of the Ole Miss women’s tennis team will begin competing in the Wilson/ITA South Regional Championships Thursday at the Alabama Tennis Center in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

 

Senior Ilona Somers and juniors Nika Koukhartchouk and Carlin Cochran will represent the Lady Rebels at the four-day event.  Somers and Koukhartchouk are in the A Draw, while Cochran is in the B Draw.  Koukhartchouk and Somers will team up in the A Draw doubles.

 

The tournament begins Thursday with two rounds of singles and will conclude Sunday with the singles and doubles finals.

 

The ITA South Region is one of the toughest regions in the country, boasting some of the nation’s top players, including from SEC schools Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi State and Ole Miss. 

 

The draw features three players ranked among the Top 25 in the country, including No. 2 Kristi Miller of Georgia Tech, No. 9 Diana Srebrovic of Florida and No. 21 Natalie Frazier of Georgia.

 

This marks the first competition for the Lady Rebels since the All-American Championships at the beginning of the month.
