ORLANDO, Fla. - The Ole Miss men's golf team will begin their spring schedule this week at the University of Central Florida tournament at Rio Pinar Country Club in Orlando, Florida. The Rebels will be in action on Monday Feb. 13th and Tuesday the 14th.
"I am cautiously optimistic about our team," said Ole Miss head coach Earnest Ross. "I was impressed in the qualifying for this tournament by the improvements made by Jamie Howarth, Brice Bailey and David Marino. We need to play well this week to build some confidence for a tough spring schedule," Ross stated.
Five Rebels will compete at the par-72 course. Juniors Brice Bailey, Kyle Ellis and Callum Macaulay along with sophomores Jamie Howarth and David Marino will make the trip to Florida.
Ole Miss will go up against the tournament's host team and defending champion, the University of Central Florida. The Rebels will also go head-to-head with heavy competitors Louisville and University of Texas-Arlington, as well as familiar foes Mississippi State and Memphis in the 18-team tourney.
The Rebels will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes Tuesday. Ole Miss is currently ranked 77th in the GolfWeek poll.
