Rebel Volleyball Hits Ground Running To Open Spring Practice

OXFORD, Miss. - Thursday was an exciting one for the volleyball team on the campus of the University of Mississippi, as the Lady Rebels took to the court for the first time since ending the 2005 season back in November.
Spring practice opened and saw an energized and excited squad hit the ground running.
"We started team practice today and the team looks good," said Ole Miss head coach Joe Getzin. "The athletes have been working out on their own and getting in the gym to work on their skills and conditioning, and that effort really shows. We're excited to get back at it."
"Cory Tidwell is back on the court and cleared to do some limited work in drills after her injury last year. Redshirt freshman Caitlin Keefe is also out on the court and bringing a lot to the floor for us."
The Lady Rebels lost Tidwell, a big 6-2 middle blocker, in the first match of the season in 2005. The loss was a big one for a youthful squad early in the season as Tidwell was forced to the sidelines along with the 6-4 Keefe.
Ole Miss looks to capitalize on the spring season and build on the progress seen throughout the off-season. At the end of March, the Lady Rebels will take to the road to face off against other teams across the Southeast and Midwest to close out the spring season.
The squad will head to San Marcos, Texas, on March 25 to take on Texas State. A week later, the Lady Rebels will hit the road to take on Middle Tennessee State on April 1.
Next up for Ole Miss will be Georgia Tech in Atlanta, as the Lady Rebels will face the Yellow Jackets on April 8.
Ole Miss will close out the spring season at home on April 22, hosting several teams in a round robin style meet with six teams in attendance. The Lady Rebels will welcome Memphis, Southern Miss, Tulane, Southeastern Louisiana, and Southeastern Conference rival Mississippi State. Missouri State-West Plains will also be in attendance.
