Freshman C Brett Basham ![]() | ![]() |
#15 Brett Basham
This Knoxville, Tenn. native started playing baseball at the age of four, following in the footsteps of his father, who was a catcher at the University of Tennessee. Brett Basham has not yet decided on a major but believes math to be his best subject and science his worst. If he could play for any major league team it would be the Braves. So Atlanta fans keep an eye out for this promising freshman catcher. You might run into him at his favorite place to eat on the Square, Old Venice, or catch a glimpse of him wakeboarding and skiing with friends. Basham might seem shy and quiet at first, but it won't be long before his outgoing nature shines through.

Freshman RHP Phillip Irwin ![]() | ![]() |

He might still be recovering from the Tommy John surgery he had last December, but Phillip Irwin has not let his injury affect his sense of humor or positive outlook. He has played guitar for five years, saying Stevie Ray Vaughn as his favorite musician. This talented pitcher is also a two-time high school state championship bowler. When he's not playing baseball you might find him eating at AJAX or playing poker with friend and fellow teammate, Justin Cryer. If Irwin had his choice to play for any major league team he would play for the St. Louis Cardinals. However, this Collierville, Tenn. native said he really isn't "a big town guy."

RS Freshman RHP Justin Cryer ![]() | ![]() |

Unlike dad, Cryer would most like to play for the Houston Astros. He is recovering from Tommy John Surgery, like friend and teammate Phillip Irwin. The two play poker almost every day, but neither will admit who is better. Cryer likes action movies and bands such as Dave Matthews Band and O.A.R. This Leesville, La. native is a Parks and Recreation Management major. Cryer always seems to have a smile on his face and a joke ready.
