Aldridge, Coleman Fail To Advance At NCAA Indoor Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Ole Miss track and field senior Marquita Aldridge and sophomore Kenyata Coleman failed to advanced on the first day at the NCAA Indoor Championships, hosted by the University of Arkansas.

"Marquita and Kenyata both turned in outstanding performances today," said Ole Miss head coach Joe Walker. "They just fell a little short. Now we must turn our focus to the outdoor season."

Aldridge the school record holder in the indoor long jump turned in a mark of 20-01.50, to place sixth in her preliminary flight. Aldridge, an All-America selection in 2002, placed second in the long jump at the SEC Indoor Championships earlier this season.

Coleman finished fourth in her preliminary of the 400 meters with a time of 54.12. Coleman holds the school record in the 400 meters with a time of 53.41.

Ole Miss begins the 2006 outdoor season next weekend. The Rebels and Lady Rebels will travel to the Alabama Relays and the Rhodes Invitational.
