Ole Miss Hosts Vanderbilt To Open Southeastern Conference Play

THE COACHES:

Vanderbilt -- Tim Corbin (Ohio Wesleyan, 1984) is in his fourth season at the helm of the Vanderbilt program, leading the Commodores to a 117-74 record in that time. Vanderbilt advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 24 years under Corbin in 2004. Corbin served nine seasons as an assistant at Clemson before coming to Vanderbilt. He served as head coach of Presbyterian College for six years beginning in 1998 to start his college coaching career.

Ole Miss -- Mike Bianco (LSU, 1989) is in his sixth season with the Rebels. He is 209-115-1 (.644 winning pct.) at Ole Miss and has a career record of 309-186-1 (.623 winning pct.) in his ninth year as a collegiate head coach. Bianco led the Rebels to the first regular season championship in 23 years with an SEC Western Division Co-Championship in 2005.

UM- Tommy Baumgardner (Sr., LHP, 2-2, 3.80 ERA, 23.2 IP)

NOTING BAUMGARDNER: Baumgardner has dropped two straight decisions the past two weekends after a quick 2-0 start. He is looking for a career-high third win in a season. Baumgardner has struck out 18 and walked 11 in his time on the mound.

SATURDAY 1:30 P.M.

VU - Matt Buschman (Sr., RHP, 2-1, 3.46 ERA, 26.0 IP)

UM- Cody Satterwhite (Fr., RHP, 3-0, 3.05 ERA, 20.2 IP)

NOTING SATTERWHITE: Satterwhite, who is 3-0 in four starts, took no decision on Saturday in the Rebels 6-5 win over UCLA. Satterwhite struck out four and walked three, allowing three runs on five hits in 5.2 innings of work. The RHP was named Freshman of the Week last week as the first Rebel to earn a weekly award from the SEC in 2006. Satterwhite has struck out 17 and walked nine on the year.

SUNDAY 1:30 P.M.

VU - Cody Crowell (So., LHP, 1-0, 2.91 ERA, 21.2 IP)

UM- Lance Lynn (Fr., RHP, 1-1, 4.15 ERA, 17.1 IP)

NOTING LYNN: Lynn suffered his first loss of the season on Sunday as the Rebles dropped a 6-4 contest to UCLA in Los Angeles. In 3.1 innings of work, Lynn gave up five runs on nine hits as he struck out 4 and walked 1. Lynn ties for the team lead in strikeouts with 19 along with Garrett White.

LAST TIME OUT:

Ole Miss took a big lead early, only to hold on at the end to take a 10-8 win over Arkansas State on Tuesday. Justin Henry and Mark Wright both notched home runs on the night to help push the Rebels to the win. Brett Bukvich picked up his second win of the season while Garrett White picked up his third save of the year.

ON DECK:

Ole Miss will take to the road again on Tuesday, traveling north to take on the Memphis Tigers in a single game to by played at AutoZone Park.
