MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Ole Miss track and field opened the 2006 outdoor season at the Rhodes Invitational with two first place finishes on Saturday. Freshmen Barnabas Kirui and Susan Legatova earned first place finishes in the men's 1500 meters and women's javelin, respectively.

Kirui, the school record holder in the indoor 3000 meters, turned in a time of 3:56.55 to take first place. Legatova's mark of 142-0 in the javelin was enough for first place and also gave the freshman the school record in the javelin.

Karl Kosman turned in a mark of 14-6 in the pole vault to earn second place. James Maloney took second place in the hammer throw with a mark of 167-9. Kristi Stillwell placed second in the hammer throw with a mark of 158-2.

Most of the Ole Miss runners did not compete in the Rhodes Invitational. They will compete when the Rebel men and women will host the first home meet of the season on March 25.
