OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss Rebel football team continued spring practice on Friday under colder-than-average temperatures for late March at the practice fields adjacent to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

The team had a spirited session in what was the third and final day of spring drills with just helmets and shorts, as they prepare for Saturday's intrasquad scrimmage.

Saturday's practice, which is set to begin at 10:45 a.m. with a scrimmage to begin around 11:40, is open to all media and fans. It will be held inside Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

Head coach Ed Orgeron noted that Friday was a good practice, as the team installed more of its special teams packages and worked on goal line schemes for the offense and defense.

"We got a lot of work on special teams done today," Orgeron said. "I think we're really better and more advanced than we were last year at this time."

Orgeron was impressed with rising senior Will Moseley at the kicker position and happy with the special teams work done in the practice.

"We have named Will our first-team kicker. He's kicking it really well. The punters are punting well. We worked on situations like punting inside, sky kick, sky return and onside kicks and being more multiple in our special teams as far as fakes and different formations, so we're ahead of the game."

As far as return men, Orgeron noted that Marshay Green and Burnell Wallace had performed well and that Mico McSwain would also be in the mix when he is fully healthy.

There is a lot of excitement in particular about the abilities that Green possesses.

"He's quick," Orgeron said simply. "He's a jitterbug, and he'll make you miss. He broke the Louisiana touchdown record and I believe had two punt returns in the All-Star game. He's just a playmaker, and he's really quick."

As far as Saturday's scrimmage, Orgeron emphasized that he wants to keep it basic.

"We really just have to go out there and let them play. We have had controlled practices up to this time. We'll go out there early and get some work on special teams, and then keep the scrimmage basic. We haven't run a full blitz package against our offense, and we're not going to do that (on Saturday). I just want to see who can play out there."

Spring practice culminates with the annual Red-Blue Game, slated for April 8 at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
