OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss Rebel football team continued spring practice on Wednesday under great conditions at the practice fields adjacent to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

Ole Miss head coach Ed Orgeron explained the Rebels focused on situational drills during the two plus hour practice.

"We had a good practice today," said Orgeron. "We went through every special situation you can think of. We concentrated on sudden change and overtime."

Orgeron was pleased with the outcome of the practice.

"It was needed and good work," Orgeron noted. "We just wanted a practice where we covered all the bases and all the things that can happen in a football game."

The defense bettered the offense for most the day's practice; however, the offense began to come on at the end.

"The defense had the better part of the offense for most of the day," said Orgeron. "The offense competed well at the end. I was very pleased with the defense throughout the practice."

Orgeron also updated the progress of two Rebels hurt last season.

"Jason Cook is doing good," said Orgeron. Reid Neely is coming along too. He is just a little rusty from being out a year. We moved him to guard to see what he can do."

Sophomore Peria Jerry was singled out for his outstanding spring.

"I like his motor," said Orgeron. "He plays with great intensity. He is obviously very strong and very quick. He has made a tremendous improvement from last year. He understands the defense and has showed a lot more leadership. He is setting the tempo this year."

Ole Miss returns the field on Saturday for a practice and scrimmage, which is set to begin at 10:45 a.m. The practice is open to all media and fans, and is scheduled to be held inside Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

Spring practice culminates with the annual Red-Blue Game, slated for April 8 at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
