Ole Miss Track Heads To Drake Relays

OXFORD, Miss. - After an off weekend the Ole Miss men's and women's track and field teams head to Des Moines, Iowa for the world famous Drake Relays.
"We are very excited to compete at the Drake Relays," said Ole Miss head coach Joe Walker. "This event features the best college and professional athletes in the country. It gives us an opportunity to show our talents on a large stage."
Since its beginnings back in 1910, the Drake Relays have grown into one of the world's premier track and field meets. The Drake Relays have been a springboard to National and Olympic glory for some of the greatest names in track and field. Olympic greats such as Michael Johnson, Carl Lewis, Bruce Jenner, and the legendary Jesse Owens have all competed at what is known as "America's Athletic Classic".
For the first time this year, fans will be able to watch part of the action from the Relays. B2 Networks will broadcast more than 12 hours of coverage live from the Drake Relays this Friday, April 28, beginning at 5pm CDT and Saturday, April 29, starting at 10:30AM, CDT.
Fans wanting to watch the Drake Relays via B2 will need a high speed internet connection and Windows Media Player 9 or higher. Each session will cost $10 dollars and can be accessed through the meet website www.drakerelays.com, the Drake University broadcasting site www.drakebroadcasting.com. A portion of each pay per view subscription will be given back to the university.
Competing for Ole Miss will be Marquita Aldridge, Charles Bailey, Britney Barnard, Amber Bledsoe, Carmia Carroll, Shannon Chandler, Kenyata Coleman, Mike Coleman, Lamar Daley, Devin Darnall, Sirdonea Davis, Lindsay Doucett, Jacob Farmer, Kadeshia Fortune, Barnabas Kirrui, Rodney Lockhart,Ed McCall, Derek McGuire, Kimberly Mulkey, Cachet Murray, Kirby Patterson, Kristi Stillwell, Kao Wokoma, Francis Vital and John Yarbrough.
So far this season the Ole Miss men have earned nine NCAA regional qualifying marks, while the Ole Miss women have added seven of their own.
The action kicks off on Wednesday with the heptathlon and runs through Saturday.
