Yarbrough Leads Rebels At Drake Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa - John Yarbrough turned in a personal best of 13.94 to win the prelims of the 110 meter hurdles on Friday at the Drake Relays.
"This was really a breakout for John," said Ole Miss head coach Joe Walker. "We knew he had a lot of potential. He ran a great race and was also running into a strong head wind."
Yarbrough's time of 13.94 bested his previous mark of 13.98 and moved him into fourth all time in Ole Miss history. The finals of the 110 meter hurdles are scheduled to run at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
On Thursday night freshman Barnabas Kirui turned in a personal best time of 14:13.93 to take home fourth place in the men's 5,000 meters. Kirui's mark moved him into fourth place in school history.
Ed McCall and Cachet Murray both advanced to the final's the men's and women's 100 meter dash. The men's 4x400 meter relay team as well as the women's 4x100 meter and 4x400 meter relay teams also advanced to tomorrow's finals. The women's 4x100 meter team also turned in a NCAA regional qualify mark.
"I was really proud of how we preformed today," said Walker. "The conditions weren't great, with the rain and wind, but we really competed hard and gave our best effort. Tomorrow we need to continue our intensity in the finals and in our other events."
Ole Miss continues action at the Drake Relays on Saturday.
