Full Slate Of Activities Scheduled For Red/Blue Weekend

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss men's tennis team, ranked No. 10 in the nation, will kick off a full slate of events for Red/Blue Weekend Friday at 2 p.m., against the University of Tennessee. Admission to the match at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center is free, and the first 100 fans will receive a free Rebel tennis t-shirt courtesy of the Ink Spot.

Coming off a split of last weekend's top-20 matches, the Rebels are currently tied for second overall in the SEC standings and tied for first in the SEC Western Division. Following Friday's match, the Rebels will host No. 1-ranked Georgia Sunday at 1 p.m.

Following the tennis match, the Ole Miss baseball team will begin a three-game series with Auburn. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m., Friday. The diamond Rebels finish out the series with the Tigers Saturday at 4 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m. Standing room only tickets for all three games are on sale for $5 for adults and $3 for children high school age and below.

The Rebels are coming off a sweep of No. 19 Georgia last weekend. Junior outfielder Alex Presley was named the SEC Player of the Week for his performance against Georgia. Presley hit .500 (6x12) with an .833 slugging percentage on the week as he also drew six walks, scored seven runs and notched three RBI. The junior was a key offensively on the base path going 6-for-6 in steals as he posted an on-base percentage of .667 for the week.

The track and field team will kick off a full day of events Saturday, with the Ole Miss Invitational at the Ole Miss Track and Field Complex. The meet will run all day and includes, among other schools - Arkansas State, Alabama, UAB, Illinois, Memphis, Southern Mississippi, Vanderbilt and Tulane. Tickets for the meet are $5 for adults and $3 for children high school age and below. Ole Miss students with a valid ID will be admitted for free.

Meanwhile, also beginning at 10 a.m., coach Steve Holeman's Ole Miss women's soccer team competes against past Rebel standouts in the club's annual alumni match at the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium, located on the west side of the campus adjacent to the Gillom Center. On Sunday, the Rebels will host two matches beginning at 9 a.m. against Georgia ODP followed by Mississippi United at noon. Admission is free for all three matches.

Coach Ed Orgeron's Rebels will officially end 2006 spring football drills with the Red-Blue Game, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium/Hollingsworth Field.

The game court in The Grove will open at 10 a.m., followed by the food court at 10:30 a.m. The band will play on The Grove stage beginning at 10:45 a.m., and the football team will walk through The Grove at 10:50 a.m. - for the "Walk of Champions."

Sponsored by SuperTalk Mississippi and Cellular South, the annual "Grove Bowl" is administered by the M-Club Alumni Chapter of the University of Mississippi Alumni Association. All proceeds go to the J.W. "Wobble" Davidson Scholarship Fund.

Tickets for the Red-Blue Game cost $10 each, with Ole Miss students admitted free with a valid University I.D. card. All seating will be general admission and located on the East and West sides of the stadium. Stadium gates on the East and West sides will open at noon.

Red-Blue tickets are on sale at the Athletic Ticket Office, located in C.M. "Tad" Smith Coliseum. On Saturday, game tickets may be purchased in The Grove, plus at the game-day Ticket Office, located next to the stadium on All-American Drive.

Action continues on Saturday with softball coach Missy Dickerson's team hosting a doubleheader with Alabama, beginning at 3 p.m. at the Ole Miss Softball Complex, located next to the Gillom Center. Tickets for the game are $5 for adults and $3 for children high school age and below. Ole Miss students with a valid ID will be admitted for free. The Rebels will conclude the weekend Sunday at 1 p.m. with their first-ever home televised contest. The game will be broadcast live on Fox Sports Net South.
