OXFORD, Miss. - As they prepare for the Red-Blue spring football game, the Ole Miss Rebels began the final week of spring practice with a spirited session on Monday at the fields adjacent to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

Practicing in shells, the team concentrated on putting in more of the offensive and defensive schemes in some team work and worked on special teams and position drills as well.

"We went over some mistakes and made some corrections from film from Saturday," said head coach Ed Orgeron.

"We've got a couple of things left, but we've got most of the stuff in," Orgeron said of the schemes and plays the team is trying to install this spring.

Orgeron noted the play of a pair of freshman receivers at Monday's practice in Marshay Green and Michael Hicks.

"Marshay is a good player. He's quick. He gives us another dimension on our football team. I really think right now we consider him a starter if he can play in our offense and be ready to compete."

"(Hicks) caught the ball and made some plays. He still has a ways to go, but he made some plays."

Saturday's scrimmage will be a traditional spring game format, in which the players and coaches will be divided equally into two teams.

"We will split the coaching staff up, and let some of those guys be head coaches for a change," Orgeron said with a laugh.

With the Rebels still waiting on a large and highly-rated recruiting class and some key players to recover from injuries, the overall spring workouts have been relatively light for an Orgeron-coached squad.

"I think it's been a rather light spring," the head coach said. "I don't think it's been that tough of a spring. We've been low on numbers and we haven't scrimmaged all that much or tackled all that much. It's been more or less a teaching time, but I think it's been okay."

The team has one more practice scheduled for Wednesday before the Grove Bowl activities on Saturday. The team will walk through the Grove for the "Walk of Champions" at 10:50 a.m. before the game begins at 1 p.m.

Tickets for the Red-Blue Game cost $10 each, with Ole Miss students admitted free with a valid University I.D. card. All seating will be general admission and located on the East and West sides of the stadium. Stadium gates on the East and West sides will open at noon.

Red-Blue tickets are on sale at the Athletic Ticket Office, located in C.M. "Tad" Smith Coliseum. On Saturday, game tickets may be purchased in the Grove, plus at the game-day Ticket Office, located next to the stadium on All-American Drive.
