OXFORD, Miss. - It's been two weekends worth of live competition in the spring season, and the Ole Miss volleyball team has experienced success in the gym and on the playing court.

Through two weekends of tournament play, the Lady Rebels have posted a 12-7 record in games played in competitions at Texas State and at Middle Tennessee State University. The Rebels were one of eight teams at Texas State and one of five teams at MTSU.

"I've been pleased with the team's progress," said Ole Miss head coach Joe Getzin. "We've made some big strides in the spring season so far. Rachel is coming along nicely running the offense for us. We're seeing steady play from Katie Kramer outside. Kristen Carroll has really stepped up into a role of a senior leader and is doing a nice job."

Cory Tidwell, a 6-2 middle blocker who suffered a season ending injury in the opening match of the 2006 season has been cleared for drills and is working with the team.

"Cory has been working hard and is coming along nicely," Getzin said. "She can do some things, but mainly it's about getting her strength back and getting back into playing condition after suffering an injury."

The Lady Rebels will take to the court again this weekend with a trip to Georgia Tech.

Ole Miss will then return home to host its own spring tournament, as seven teams will come to Oxford to compete on the weekend of April 21-22. The Lady Rebels will host Mississippi State, Memphis, Southeastern Louisiana, Tulane, Southern Miss, New Orleans and Missouri State West Plains.

The tournament will be open to the public and played at the Gillom Sports Complex on the campus of the University of Mississippi beginning on Friday, April 21.
