OXFORD, Miss. - Coming off a 2-1 win over No. 25 Mississippi State on Wednesday, the Ole Miss softball team will be hosting third-ranked Alabama this weekend in a three-game series on Saturday and Sunday at the Ole Miss Softball Complex.

The Rebels and Crimson Tide will start Saturday's doubleheader at 3 p.m. and will square off on Sunday at 1 p.m. when Ole Miss hosts its first-ever televised softball game on Fox Sports Net South.

Sunday will also be "Beach Day" at the ballpark, as there will be free hot dogs compliments of Kroger, along with a variety of beach-related giveaways. Fans also have a chance to win a year's supply of Coca-Cola by entering in a drawing.

The Rebels most recently used a stellar day in the circle by senior right-hander Dana Brill and junior lefty Mary Jane Callahan to down the No. 25 Mississippi State Bulldogs 2-1 in front of 1,354 fans in the showcase game of the 2006 M&F Fastpitch Classic.

Brill and Callahan combined to allow one run and strike out 11 Bulldogs, while sophomore second baseman Lauren Rowe hit her team-leading fifth home run of the season, as well.

Rowe also leads the squad with 22 RBI and ranks third on the team with a .290 batting average. Freshman shortstop Lisa Conchos continues to lead the way in batting with a .309 average, while she has scored a team-best 17 runs and is tops with nine multiple-hit contests.

Brill owns a team-best 2.57 ERA and 7-9 record, while she has struck out 100 batters in 100 2/3 innings pitched. Callahan owns a 3.09 ERA and has 16 complete games in 19 starts.

Alabama is 33-4 on the season and undefeated with a 12-0 mark in conference play. The Tide have won 21 of their last 22 games, with the lone loss coming against then top-ranked Arizona. The current streak of nine in a row includes a three-game sweep of then No. 2-ranked Tennessee.

Alabama is hitting .314 as a team, led by Brittany Rogers' .432 average. Dani Woods tops the club with 11 doubles, 6 home runs and 33 RBI. The pitching staff has compiled a 0.87 ERA, which ranks third in the SEC. Chrissy Owens and Stephanie VanBrakle rank fourth and fifth, respectively, with a 0.61 ERA and a 0.69 mark. VanBrakle is second in the SEC with 19 wins and 212 strikeouts. The Tide also own the league's best fielding average at .979.

In the all-time series, the Crimson Tide lead the Rebels 29-2. Ole Miss won a 3-0 contest in Tuscaloosa last season and dropped two games, 2-1 and 1-0.

The weekend marks the second time this season Ole Miss has faced a top-five nationally-ranked opponent. The Rebels dropped a 4-0 contest at No. 2 Texas on March 3.

Announcers for Sunday's game on FSN South will be Bernie Guenther doing play-by-play and Cheri Kemph as the color analyst.
