Vital Seventh In Heptathlon After Day One At SEC Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Ole Miss sophomore Francis Vital turned in a personal best time of 13.99 to finish third in the 100-meter hurdles en route to seventh place after day one in the heptathlon at the SEC Outdoor Championships.

Vital earned 980 points for her finish in the hurdles for a first day total of 3014. The Iowa, La. Native also turned in seventh place finishes in the high jump and the shot put, as well as a ninth place finish 200 meters.

Her mark of 13.99 in the 100-meter hurdles bested her previous record of 14.38 set at the Ole Miss Invitational earlier this season.

The heptathlon concludes tomorrow at 3 pm. with the 800 meters, long jump and javelin portions of the event.

Individual field and running events begin tomorrow with the women's hammer throw at 10 a.m.
