Ole Miss Track Heads To SEC Outdoor Championships

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss men's and women's track and field teams will compete at the 2006 SEC Outdoor Championships hosted by the University of Arkansas, beginning on Thursday.

"We are very excited for the Championships," said Ole Miss head coach Joe Walker. "We had an outstanding outdoor season and we are ready to translate that to the SEC Championships."

A record 21 athletes have qualified for the NCAA Mideast Regional this season.

"We have our largest group of athletes ever qualify for the NCAA Regional and we hope that it will carry over. If all our athletes perform well, we have a chance to have a very successful Championships."

Ole Miss joins conference members at the four day event, which concludes on Sunday. The men's decathlon and women's heptathlon kick off the meet on Thursday with the fields and running events starting on Friday.
