Men's Tennis Assistant Coach Jeff Clark Resigns

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss men's tennis assistant coach Jeff Clark announced his resignation Tuesday to take another job in his hometown of Chattanooga, Tenn.
Clark, who recently completed his fourth year with the Rebels, will be returning to Chattanooga to work with his former coach Eric Voges, who is the head tennis coach at McCallie School and also runs a very popular junior program.
"Jeff has been instrumental in our outstanding success over the last four years," said head coach Billy Chadwick, recently inducted into the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame. "He has been an outstanding influence for our team both on and off the court, and he will definitely be missed. We wish him and his family the best."
Clark helped coach the Rebels to back-to-back overall SEC Championships in 2004 and 2005, four consecutive SEC West titles and the NCAA Final Four in 2005. In addition, the Rebels finished among the top five nationally two of his first three years, including No. 3 in 2005.
This past year, Clark was named the ITA Southeast Region Assistant Coach of the Year. During his tenure, Clark coached three All-Americans, nine All-SEC players and five Academic All-Americans.
"I am grateful to Coach Chadwick for giving me and my family the opportunity to come to Oxford four years ago," Clark said. "I have loved working for Coach Chadwick and have learned a lot from him which has made me a better coach. It has been an honor to coach for the Ole Miss Rebels, one of the top programs in all of college tennis.
"I want to thank all the players who have been so much fun to work with and have put in the hard work on the court and in the classroom. I also want to thank the fans who have been so supportive. Without a doubt we have the best fans in the SEC. I am going to miss the excitement of the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center, but my family and I are looking forward to returning to our home and being closer to our families."
Clark came to Ole Miss in 2002 after serving as head coach of both the men's and women's programs at Tennessee-Chattanooga from 1999-2001.
The Rebels return five of the top six from last year's NCAA "Sweet Sixteen" squad as well as Chris Rea, Ahmed El Tabakh and Matthias Wellermann.
