Lady Rebel Netters Back In Action This Weekend

Senior Ilona Somers and freshman Elizabeth Wood will be competing in the pre-qualifying singles at the prestigious Riviera All-American Championships, which begin Saturday. The duo will also team up in the doubles pre-qualifying.
Somers and Wood captured the Ole Miss Fall Classic title in their first tournament together. It marked the first collegiate title for Wood, who hails from Spring,
Saturday’s schedule includes two rounds of singles and one round of doubles. Eight players and four doubles teams will advance from there to the Oct. 3-4 64-player qualifying tournament at the Riviera Country Club (where eight players and four doubles teams will advance to the main draw).
The first Intercollegiate Tennis Association national singles and doubles championships of the 2006-07 season - the Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships presented by Fila - is one of three national collegiate tennis championships this season. The premier hard court event of the fall, the All-American Championships feature the top players in NCAA Division I tennis.
