Women’s Tennis Closes out Regular Season with Win at Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. – No. 38 Ole Miss Women's Tennis defeated Kentucky, 4-0, on Saturday afternoon at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex to end its regular season.
Ole Miss (14-10, 6-9 SEC) was up 3-0 against Kentucky (9-15, 1-14 SEC) before Junior Andrea Nova defeated Elena Molla, 6-0, 6-3, to clinch the match for the Rebels.
Ole Miss would breeze through doubles, clinching the doubles point with a pair of 6-1 wins. No. 13 Andrea Nova and Emily Welker would take down No. 57 Reese Sager and Asuncion Jadue. Then Riley Crowder and Alice Soulié would follow, beating Julia Zhu and Donna Le Roux.
In singles No. 18 Welker would secure the second match point for the Rebels with a 6-2, 6-1 win against No. 73 Zoe Hammond. Beatrice Stagno would come next, picking up a 6-2, 6-1 victory against Ellie Myers, setting Nova up to clinch the match.
The remaining three matches went unfinished, with No. 99 Zhu having just won her first set against Soulié, 6-3; Crowder and Le Roux had split their sets, 6-1, 3-6; and Jadue had taken the first set from Ichino Horikawa 7-5.
With the regular season concluded, the Rebels will be headed to Norman, Oklahoma, next, to compete in the SEC Tournament from April 15 – 19. Their opponent will be announced on Sunday.
